Frequently Asked Questions

The first session starts with the parent and teen so I can review my approach and discuss confidentiality. It is collaborative, and then I create a safe place for the client. Flat per-session pricing, no packages to decode. Every service starts the same way: a free 15-minute call.

I specialize in adolescents and teens, typically ages 12–18. I also work with young adults navigating similar challenges around identity, relationships, and figuring out next steps.

I work with teens experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-worth, academic pressure and burnout, family conflict, and identity questions. If you’re not sure whether what your teen is dealing with is a good fit, just reach out, I’m happy to talk it through.

Both. In-person sessions are available in Denver. Telehealth is available to anyone in Colorado. Most families find a mix of both works well.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy helps teens spot the link between thoughts, feelings, and actions, then build practical tools to change unhelpful patterns. Motivational Interviewing meets teens where they are, respecting their autonomy while helping them find their own reasons to grow.

Together, these approaches work well with adolescents because teens push back against being told what to do. CBT gives concrete skills they can use right away. MI builds motivation from the inside instead of imposing it from the outside. The combination respects a teen’s independence while still giving them structure and results.

Elevate is a private-pay practice. I do not bill insurance directly, but I can provide a superbill you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement if your plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits. Many clients are surprised by what their plan covers it’s worth a call to your provider to ask.

Reach out through the contact form or email me directly to schedule a free 15-minute consultation. We’ll talk about what’s going on, what you’re hoping for, and whether Elevate feels like the right fit.

Sessions are 50 minutes. For teens, I usually meet with them individually, though I check in with parents periodically to share general progress and keep everyone aligned. I want teens to feel like the session is theirs because that trust matters.

That depends on what we’re working on and how things progress. Some teens come for a focused stretch of a few months; others benefit from longer ongoing support. We’ll revisit that together as we go. This is for you, there’s no pressure either way.
